I getthis as well. I think it is a result of moving to the new server/cluster, i.e. its a real software problem that requires fixing.

I can say that at one time it did work in the distant (more than 1 year back), but has never worked for me since the contents were moved to the new server

That's strange, besides trying to go to say deleted spams, display always works for me (now and in the past) when clicking out of my gmail AFAIK. Is it the way one's email client is interpreting the url out of the message that is sent? I think that was the actual issue for someone in a previous recent thread like this.

Here is what I received in my yahoo mailbox for the replies to my above post"

Dear Patron,

You requested to be notified of replies to your post
(http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=65666).
This is part of this forum: http://www.archive.org/details/etree#forum

A response (http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=65667)
has been posted

------------

When I cut and paste these into my IE browser, all is fine. When I click on them from yahoo-mail it looks to be appending an extra ")" after the last number of the id:

So this

http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=65666

becomes this

http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=65666)

and this

http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=65667

becomes this

http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=65667)

I can't tell if yahoo mail is appending the ")" to be the link or if that is what is being sent by the IA.

Matt

Ah, that was the same problem in the previous thread I think. Meanwhile, gmail apparently "knows" to strip off the ). So maybe the best way is for IA to automailer to be tweaked to send with an intervening space on both sides?

I hear webmistress Tracey has now changed the automessage so this shouldn't be an issue :)

Busted!! uh-oh izat a no-no? Two is the answer (darn IP address!)
It's me-myself-(but not I).
"EB" liked the name cosmicharlie, did'nt want my fool name out there. Please don't throw us into the Briar patch!
EB was outta medication several months ago and almost went ballistic in "Democracy Now". I'm much better now!

Did I ever tell you what an excellent moderator you are?
Pleeeeze be kind!

I have eliminated much of myself, thank God I'm still me!
and "I'm" over at some brutal MMA site.
But still, the last answer to direwolf's question made little sense to me. I'm a surfer, but no geek. I've hardly ever checked that little box, but I'm trying it....NOW!

If you have the box checked next to "I’d like to receive email when someone responds to this post" hen you get an email. Some people have trouble with the links in the emails. The problem is that the links in the email are in parentheses.

Thanks for the reply Matthew - worked for me in the past too. It really is just as easy to hop back to the archive's home page - just thought my good 'ol yahoo email might have been "acting up." again - thanks - have a great day
